Zenith celebrates the arrival of summer in Europe with a limited edition of the DEFY Classic, produced exclusively for the Greek retailer GOFAS: the DEFY Classic Mykonos Edition. Mykonos is undoubtedly one of the most popular summer destinations. Just like Zenith, the Greek island nestled in the Aegean Sea skilfully combines history and tradition with a modern, avant-garde spirit. To celebrate the sparkling atmosphere of Mykonos, Zenith has created a special version of the DEFY Classic, designed exclusively for GOFAS, its Greek retailer, in a limited edition of just 25 pieces. The facetted case of the DEFY Classic, with a diameter of 41 mm, is made of blue ceramic. In addition to its excellent performance characteristics, such as hardness and scratch-resistance, here the deep blue colour is integrated into the material, rather than merely constituting a surface layer. In a mix of glossy satin and micro-palletised matt surfaces, the case highlights the futuristic lines of the DEFY Classic. The skeleton dial recalls the colours of the Greek flag without betraying Zenith's own style, sporting blue, white and silver tones to create an effect of harmonious depth against a contemporary architectural backdrop. In the Mykonos Edition, the star-shaped central element of the skeleton dial is painted in the same blue colour as the case, while the central seconds hand with its star-shaped counterweight is painted in white, quite exceptionally for this special series. The raised flange is also in a white version with blue rhodium-plated applied hour-markers filled with blue Super-LumiNova, as are the facetted hands. The movement of the DEFY Classic Mykonos Edition, visible from the dial and caseback, is a modern take on the Zenith Elite automatic movement. Made with a skeletonised plate, bridges and even a calendar wheel, the Elite calibre boasts a modern character that is not limited to aesthetics, thanks to the silicon escapement wheel and anchor guaranteeing precision at a frequency of 28,800 hr (4 Hz). The minimum power reserve guaranteed by the Elite automatic movement is 50 hours. In keeping with the Mykonian theme of this exclusive edition, the sapphire crystal on the caseback is embellished with the silhouette of the iconic white windmills that have become an emblematic symbol of the Greek island. The perfect finishing touch to this summer-themed special edition dedicated to Mykonos is an exclusive strap developed exclusively for the DEFY Classic Mykonos Edition, featuring a white rubber base with a blue centre piece and a motif inspired by the cobbled paving stones of the island's streets. The model also includes a second strap in textured white rubber. The double titanium folding clasp also sports a touch of blue, with the blue ceramic element positioned at the head.
