Tutti al mare, tutti al mare... the well-known refrain of a Roman ditty and in tune with the arrival of the warm season, which punctually cheers us up and fatigues us, but which makes us enjoy the beach, the sea and, as is the norm, with our watches on our wrists. Although time should play a marginal role on holiday, the human species just cannot part with its beloved timepiece. It doesn't matter if the heat is scorching, you sweat profusely and so having a small encumbrance hanging on your wrist creates a certain discomfort. What do you want it to be compared to the satisfaction of showing off your favourite object, perhaps one of those impossible and not easy to find! We make this preamble in order to emphasise how many watch owners buy only what is fashionable and what others cannot achieve, for the sole sake of showing off, of being able to say: I have it and you do not. They certainly fall into the category of those who pay the least attention to the care of their watches: those who do not consider maintenance a necessity for the durability of their watches over the years, those who at the end of the summer do damage with water infiltrations, those who cause beautiful scratches caused by sand, those who do not wash them with fresh water after bathing in the sea, those who ask themselves "but what are they for? These are contrasted by the category of those who own watches for passion, those who have chosen the right one for the sea and who, heeding our advice, have the necessary checks carried out by the specialised watchmaker to face the harsh trials of the summer season, in order to safeguard the integrity of the timepiece, to avoid irreparable or very costly damage (seawater is unforgiving) and to whom all our admiration goes. It is pointless to list again the few but essential attentions to be paid to the watch, the few but necessary control operations to be carried out before and, why not, even after the summer season. We have written them down hundreds of times and we will only take advantage of this distinction between fashionistas and enthusiasts to refresh ideas and draw attention to the subject for those who may forget just because of distraction... you never know.
