The Hora Mundi, Breguet's prized GMT, joins the Marine collection. This watch features a dual time-zone with memory mechanism and instant change. Here's how it works: first, you select your home town, using the crown at 7 o'clock. Then, you use the crown at 3 to set the time, date and day/night indication. The next step is to use the crown at 7 to select a second city; as the crown is turned, the time, date and day/night indicator automatically update to the correct indications for the second selected city. Once the two cities have been set - and this is the beauty of it - by pressing the crown at 7, the hour hand, date and day/night indicator will automatically switch back and forth between the two cities, instantaneously.
Orchestrating it all is the automatic 77F1 calibre, partly visible through the sapphire glass on the case back. Among other things, it features a balance oscillating at a frequency of 4 Hz and a silicon escapement.
The star, however, is the dial, which offers a fascinating interpretation of the world. On an initial gold base, waves, hand-crafted with guilloché work, break on the shores of the continents. The soleil background is a dark blue colour, while a further sapphire crystal disc is furrowed with metallised meridians. The continents are decorated with a horizontal satin finish, and the ribs emphasised by a metallic turquoise hue.
At 4 o'clock, the rose gold Sun and rhodium-plated Moon are hand-hammered. At 12 o'clock is the date window with retrograde indication and at 6 o'clock that of the cities corresponding to the different time zones. An anchor indicates the place whose time is displayed. The 43.9-mm-diameter case is available in white or pink gold and comes with a leather, rubber or gold bracelet strap.
