F.P. Journe has launched its first ultra-light mechanical chronograph with a case, bracelet and movement entirely in aluminium. It is the Centigraphe Sport, whose model number 001 was auctioned at Christie's in favour of a charity for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The watch fetched $497,152, approximately ten times its initial value. This result made it possible to finance seven earthquake-resistant houses in the de Fère Foundation's '100case100families' programme, which built 100 temporary wooden, earthquake-resistant houses to relocate affected families in the town of North Tome, near Sendai, Japan.
