Saturday 16 May saw the start of the first race of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo. A round organised in the context of the FIA GT championship, on the famous Adria circuit. Marc A. Hayek, President and CEO of Blancpain (title sponsor of the championship), piloted a resplendent Gallardo LP560-4 bearing the manufacturer's colours. The first one-make championship in Lamborghini's history, the 2009 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo has six European rounds that take place from May to October, at Silverstone (UK), Adria (Italy), Norisring (Germany), Spa Francorchamps (Belgium) as well as the Catalunya (Spain) and Paul Ricard (France) circuits. Thirty Lamborghini Gallardo cars will take part in each of the tests.
The partnership between Blancapain and Lamborghini also gave rise to the Flyback Super Trofeo Chronograph, dedicated to the event and produced in 300 pieces: the case, which is based on the profile of the Lamborghini Gallardo, is in steel with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) treatment and houses the automatic F185 calibre, with flyback function and NAC treatment (a galvanic process that blackens bridges and plate), 308 components and 40 hours of power reserve. The black dial has white and red hour markers at 12 and 9 o'clock, chrono minutes counter at 3 o'clock, chrono hours at 9 o'clock and continuous seconds with date at 6 o'clock.
