Bulgari contributes to the 'relamping' of the Ara Pacis

New light on the Ara Pacis monument and museum, thanks to the total 'relamping' operation, which involved replacing the halogen lighting fixtures in all museum spaces with new generation LED lamps. At the same time, the lighting system in the exhibition space was also upgraded, with the installation of new tracks and an increase in the number of lighting points and lamps, also using LED technology. The intervention was financed by an act of patronage by the Maison Bulgari for 120,000 euro, and Roma Capitale completed the relamping by intervening with its own funds on the exhibition space below, for an amount of over 86,300 euro. The primary objective of the Capitoline Superintendency was to improve the visual quality of the monument and the perception of the architectural spaces, acting in continuity with the artistic direction of architect Richard Meier, the creator and designer of the museum complex, who wanted to follow, screen and confirm the current lighting work. "I thank Bulgari for its contribution to the city on this occasion as well. We make iconic places in Rome visible and even more beautiful. Taking care of and enhancing our city is a great commitment that we carry out together and that we can also realise thanks to the precious collaboration of private entities. Only a week ago, the museums reopened in safety, today we are giving new light to an important symbol for all Romans, an architectural and cultural heritage of inestimable value,' said the Mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi.Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of the Bulgari Group, added: 'We are proud to have contributed to this project that admirably combines beauty and energy efficiency. As jewellers, we know how essential light is to give the right emphasis to the treasures of nature, and the treasures of history as in this case. Bulgari has been at the forefront of preserving and enhancing the capital's artistic heritage for years. We strongly believe in the partnership between the public and private sectors, and we are more than ever ready to collaborate with the institutions to jointly bring forward new projects that represent a tribute to the greatness of Rome and its millenary culture'. The relamping of the Ara Pacis also represents a big step forward in the name of sustainability and compliance with the recent European directives on energy saving: the new lamps make it possible to reduce the previous consumption of electricity and consequently running costs by one seventh. In fact, the nominal power of the lighting system goes from the 57 kW of the halogen lamps to the 8.4 kW of the LEDs, reducing the electrical load of the 85%. The intervention was carried out using ERCO luminaires, a company internationally renowned for its experience in the field of architectural and artistic lighting.
