From the 1950s to today: how the Eberhard Scafograf has changed

The latest editions of the Scafograf, Eberhard & Co's diver born in the late 1950s, also include a limited edition version that celebrated the brand's 135th anniversary.

Eberhard Scafograf

The Scafograf was the first diver's watch launched by Eberhard & Co in 1959, although the company had already been chosen by the Italian Regia Marina in the 1930s to supply its military with some precision chronographs. The Scafograf 100 metre with a 35 mm case was almost immediately joined by a 38 mm version that introduced a rotating bezel and raised the water-resistance figure to 200 metres. In 1962, the case was increased to 42.5 mm, also introducing a version with a date display. In 1964, a new version was capable of reaching a depth of 300 metres. The movement was an automatic ETA 2824-2 calibre. The Scafograf 300 M was followed two years later by a variant with bar indices to replace the triangular ones. This will be the model that the company will take back in 2016 for the first re-edition of this diver.Eberhard ScafografIts evolution brings us to the latest versions that include the Scafograf 300 MCMLIX, offered with a ceramic bezel and green dial, an increasingly trendy shade, which in this case is combined with a 43 mm steel case and features a date function.

Eberhard ScafografA limited series version of the Scafograf 200 celebrated the 135th anniversary of Eberhard's founding (in 1887) in 2022. Produced in 135 pieces, it returns in a total-black version, in DLC steel for an extremely contemporary look. The professional features remain unchanged, such as the helium valve and the unidirectional bezel with luminescence, here enhanced by a ceramic insert. The crown and back are screw-down for water-resistance to 200 metres.
