The new Senator Excellence from Glashütte Original

Glashütte Original's new Senator Excellence Data Panoramica and Senator Excellence Data Panoramica Moon Phase were presented in Paris on Tuesday. The location in the Ville Lumière was chosen because the brand's new boutique on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, behind the elegant Place Vendôme, was officially opened that evening.
With the presentation in spring 2016 of the IWC-manufactured Calibre 36 - the heart of the new Senator Excellence line - Glashütte Original has laid the foundation for a new generation of watches. The Calibre 36 adopts an innovative silicon balance spring that guarantees extreme precision while a single spring barrel offers a power reserve of over 100 hours at a frequency of 4 Hertz (28,800 vibrations per hour). In terms of running precision, a more compact type of construction contributes to stability, as does the innovative bayonet mount used to attach the movement to the watch case.
The Senator Excellence Date Panorama takes centre stage with its famous date display featuring two concentric discs on the same level, allowing the two numbers that make up the date to be displayed without a central dividing bar.
The Senator Excellence Date Panoramic Moon Phase combines a date display with a moon phase complication. A silvered moon makes its way through a window between 10 and 11 o'clock. The moon phase can be adjusted via the crown and will need a one-day correction no earlier than 122 years to realign with the synodic (lunar) month of 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.9 seconds.
Both models are made with a 40-mm-diameter case in red gold or lunar steel and are subjected to 24 days of rigorous testing under even harsher conditions than those required by the strict German chronometer certification test. The watches are supplied with an Examination Certificate containing the results of the most important tests they have undergone. An online portal
also offers owners the opportunity to examine the results of individual tests and to inform themselves
on specific test procedures.
