New Patrimony for Vacheron Constantin

1Faithful to the purity of line characteristic of the Patrimony collection, this timepiece indicates the phases and age of the moon. This complication is accompanied by a retrograde calendar displaying numbers from 1 to 31 at the top of the dial. Equipped with a new self-winding Manufacture movement, Calibre 2460 R31L, the Patrimony moon phases and retrograde calendar is certified by the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva. The moon, in pink or white gold as well as the case, stands out against a starry background that can be admired through an opening in the lower part of the dial. The age of the moon, i.e. the number of days that have passed since the last new moon, can be read on a graduated scale that runs around this aperture. This complication is extremely precise and faithfully reproduces the moon's revolution around the Earth, which lasts exactly 29 days, 12 hours and 45 minutes. The sophisticated mechanism requires a correction of one day only once every 122 years. The second horological complication, the retrograde calendar, is positioned at the top of the dial. The central hand, antiqued by oxidation and surmounted by an arrow with an openworked end, moves forward one notch per day. Once the month has ended, a retrograde system enables it to return instantaneously to its initial position on the number 1, so that it resumes marking the days of the new month. To ensure optimal use, all functions are adjusted via the crown. The silvered opaline dial, with its slightly rounded edge, features tapered hour markers in pink or white gold, as well as a circular pearlised chapter ring. The emblematic Maltese Cross on the dial, the slender hands and the pin buckle on the alligator strap are all made of pink or white gold, depending on the model.
