Omega - Seamaster Planet Ocean Limited Edition 'Sochi 2014'

On 7 February, the countdown to the 365 days until the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games officially began with the unveiling of Omega's new countdowns in eight cities across the Russian Federation. The Maison will in fact be the Official Timekeeper of the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games for the 26th time since 1932. For the occasion, Omega has created a special watch, the Seamaster Planet Ocean "Sochi 2014", made in a men's and women's version, both in a limited edition of 2,014 pieces.

The men's model features a 45.5 mm polished and brushed steel case with matching bracelet. The unidirectional rotating bezel is in black ceramic with a chrome nitride scale. In homage to the colours of the Russian Federation flag, minutes 1 to 5 are lacquered blue and minutes 6 to 10 are lacquered red. The caseback is embossed with the 'Sochi 2014' Olympic logo. On the case, at 10 o'clock, is the helium escape valve.

The applied indices on the matt black dial and the polished facetted rhodium-plated hands are coated with white Super-Luminova that emits a blue light. The exception is the minute hand, which emits a green light, as does the dot at 12 o'clock on the bezel. It is equipped with the Co-Axial calibre 8500, with an Si14 silicon balance spring. It is water-resistant to a depth of 600 metres.

The women's version, the Seamaster Planet Ocean 37.5 mm limited edition 'Sochi 2014' has the same robust features and professional diving functionality as the men's model but features some distinctive elements. The unidirectional rotating bezel is in white ceramic with a diving scale. As in the men's version, numbers 1 to 5 are lacquered blue and numbers 6 to 10 are lacquered red. The dial is lacquered white and the movement is the Co-Axial calibre 8520 with an antimagnetic Si14 silicon balance spring that is particularly resistant to shocks and external disturbances.
