Porsche Design Chronotimer Collection

Porsche Design_ChronotimerSeries1_Deep BlueMore than forty years have passed since Porsche Design revolutionised the watch industry with the presentation of the world's first chronograph with an all-black case and bracelet. Last year, the renowned Porsche Design innovation studio created the 'Chronotimer' collection, reflecting the brand's new luxury-lifestyle sports orientation. With this collection, the company celebrates its natural passion for racing: observing the specific needs of racing car drivers, Porsche Design's founder, Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, was the first to introduce the colour matt black and titanium for the case and bracelet into watchmaking in order to make the 'watch instrument' more functional and ergonomic. These features are still present on Porsche Design watches today, testifying to the wisdom of the choice. The Chronotimer Collection thus interprets sportiness, speed and performance. The design is inspired by cockpit instruments, such as those in the cockpits of racing cars, designed for easy and immediate readability; accordingly, the watch face is matt black with white hands and numerals. The sapphire glass is also designed to ensure optimum performance and perfect legibility, and in fact has an anti-reflective treatment on both sides. The case of each watch in the Chronotimer Collection is made of titanium, with different finishes for each model, and measures 42 millimetres in diameter. The strap is available in leather, technical fabric, titanium or rubber. Special attention is given to the bezel, which is produced using handcrafted systems: it is available in brushed titanium, matt black coated titanium or 18-carat rose gold. The dials are dark and contrasting: matt black, carbon, dark blue and a white edition with black numerals. The Chronotimer Collection is the first collection of Porsche Design watches developed and produced by Porsche Design Timepieces AG, based in Solothurn (Switzerland), in cooperation with the Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See (Austria). The watches have the following technical features: mechanical self-winding chronograph movement, ETA Valjoux calibre 7750 with a 48-hour power reserve and date display at 3 o'clock. The case back is made of smoked sapphire glass and allows a view of the movement, which has a customised energy-optimised rotor. All cases in the Chronotimer Collection are made of titanium and are guaranteed water-resistant to 5 atmospheres of pressure.
